I’m trying to suss out Goal #4 for Feets of Strength.
I’d like to get back to the intrinsic motivations I enjoyed doing #1 - the Hillary Trail - as opposed to the race-based challenges #2 and #3. There was something in #1 about wanting to run as self-expression which I never really explored; I’d like to pick up that thread. Hmmm, there are some cool races coming up though:
Sprint the Bay- a 3 day Sprint Orienteering competition in Hawkes Bay, NZ, with a Tour de France style jersey system.
ARC’s Kauri Run - 35km trail run in Coromandel, NZ, which I’ve wanted to do for years but its always clashed. 2011 is my chance!
NZ Orienteering Nationals - also in the Hawkes Bay.
So… probably none of these races. At this stage. Seeing Dan’s photos of the Hillary Trail made me feel like doing it again myself. Feast your eyes on Te Henga; how could you not want to run here?Maybe a repeat?
On the other hand, I don’t want to spend literally all day training when I could be hanging with my son and his inspiring mother. Instead in 2011 I’m training shorter & faster, so ideally the next goal will align with that.
