Ties ran the Hillary Trail today!
So I got a text this evening from my buddy Ties telling me he’d just run the Hillary Trail today. As in, the full 70km monster:
The Huia Road Bush Runners were tackling the iconic trail as a relay, providing support stops at the beaches with their van (endearingly called “The Clubhouse”). So, Ties wakes up this morning and decides he feels OK so he might as well join them to run the whole damn thing! Kind of like, a training run. For this.
I’m super proud of him. He’s turned himself into a running machine, and I’m seriously impressed that he’s just knocked off a very hard run, almost on the spur of the moment. And in good time too! I didn’t catch his total time (he beat the Clubhouse to the support stops a few times, and had to wait for it to arrive), but running time was 10hrs 20min, which is slightly faster than mine when I ran it last year. I’ll get the full story when I catch up with him later in the week.
Congratulations Ties, you are The Man.
